Where: Conrad Hotel, Manila Who: Mr & Mrs Wanderlust, 2 kids and Granny When: August 2017 What: Staycation at Conrad Hotel, MNL What to expect and see around the 5 Star Hotel How To Get There: DIRECTIONS (From NAIA Airport) Take Departures to NAIA Road and continue on NAIA Road. Keep right to continue on Diosdado Macapagal Blvd. Turn left on to Aseana Ave. Turn right towards J.W. Diokno Blvd. Then turn left at Coral Way. Turn right at Seaside Blvd. The latest hotel developed within the Mall of Asia complex and with a grand view of Manila Bay, Conrad Hotel just started its operations not more than a year ago (Sept 2016) and still continues to visually strike people who see the building. To quote their website, "Inspired by the impressive vessels that traverse the bay, Conrad Manila's stunning architecture makes strong connections to the immediate waters in front, and the skyline of Makati's Central Business District behind the hotel." Mr & Mrs Wanderlust's Review + Stylish building looks like a giant cruise ship. + Tight security prepare for frisking, x-ray detectors, so guests will feel secure inside. + Near SM Mall of Asia (accessible from the building) + Has also access to S Maison, a new mall that is for upper class markets but still part of SM + Lobby is in the 3rd floor and greeted with cookie and welcome drink + The lobby is visually stimulating because of its large space, good view of bay, and stylish. + Staff are courteous and helpful. + Check-in at Executive Lounge while waiting for room to be made, you can relax for a while. + Executive Lounge features 3 different meals everyday where guests can eat for free. + Pool is nice, has place for kids that is shallow, and has lifeguard. - Swimming pool is located in 3rd floor will pass by lobby which is annoyance for a guest coming from pool to see other guests in the lobby. - Expected to have provided (even with extra charge) rubber slippers to be used by our kid when going swimming. But were informed that they only have the bedroom slippers provided but can provide extra. - Wished to have in-room PPV available (for the mayweather - mcgregor) fight but apparently unavailable, so we had to go out to a restaurant nearby Buffalo Wings n Things which was showing the fight. **PROTIP: can request for rooms with view of either the Bay or the city. ***Rating Price: $$$$$$ 10k - 20k PHP+++ (depending on rooms) Service: 5 star - Staff were friendly and helpful and will make sure everything is taken care of Facilities & Amenities: 4.8 star - Modern 5 star facilities. Just pool being near looby isnt our thing. Restaurant (foods):4.9 star - Tried in room service and was good, too bad didn't have sinigang. Bar: 4.9 star - Has different bars and good selection of wine / alcohol. ________________________________ Overall: 4.9 /5 stars Things To Do: There are lots of things to do around the area, but let us begin with things to do in the hotel: 1. Executive Lounge The hotel offers its guests access to the executive lounge which apart from the complimentary breakfast for checked in guests, they also throw in like a complimentary snack bar after breakfast which ranges from cookies, club sandwiches, etc. and then 4pm onwards they serve anti pasto like different cold cuts, cheese, small serving of pesto penne, and a lot more. The mini bar also features a couple of red and white wine, and a few more liquor like whiskey, brandy, scotch, gin and other spirits, so it is like a pre-game if you are going to a dinner. 2. Swimming Pool The hotel also has its swimming pool on the 3rd floor. Just a few meters away from the lobby there is an access to the pool, the pool was nice and cool perfect for the warm weather. It has a kiddie part where the water is shallow and safe for the kids. It also offers a nice view of the building which gives the vibe that you are inside a cruise ship. It has a lifeguard on duty, and has a bar right around the pool's corner for the alcohol. 3.Gym Just near the pool, is where the gym is at. If we recall correctly the gym is open 24/7 for the junkies out there. 4. S Maison There is a new-ish 2 storey mall that looks like it caters to the higher class market (compared to SM Malls- but still part of SM investments). This mall is just within Conrad's building. It has a couple of restaurants that are worth a try. 5. SM Mall Of Asia The hotel also has a direct access to the mall without going outside the streets. Just a few minutes walk and you would get to the biggest mall in the country owned by the richest man in the country. 6. Activities around the Bay, and outside the complex There are definitely more things to do around the bay, from the smaller amusement park just along the bay, to the bigger one a few kilometers away (Star City). Casinos and other entertainment places are nearby,, such as resorts world, solaire and city of dreams where the kids would enjoy Dreamplay. The bay also offers cruises, while the hotel even offers helicopter ride for the best aerial view of the city, or even the nearby provinces.
