When: June 2014 What: RELAX in Anilao A few hundred kilometers south of Manila, around 3 hours travel to the town of Mabini. Anilao is popular with divers and snorkelers. The waters surrounding the area may be rocky but are teeming with marine life, plenty of corals and amazing diversity of fishes. Although the beach at Anilao is not recommended for swimming, thatched bamboo rafts, rustic cabins and picnic cabanas are available for rental at local resorts. From these resorts, you can also rent a boat for island hopping and visit the diving spots, coves, and islands like the Sombrero and Maricaban islands.
From Manila, one can typically get to Anilao by taking a bus bound for Batangas City (Buendia terminal) and asking the conductor for drop off at the Mabini/Bauan jeepney terminal. By request, a Mabini jeepney driver will then take passengers to the Mabini dock area. From the Mabini docks, visitors can hire a driver to any one of the resorts. If using a private vehicle, just follow google maps to your resort. ;)
Mr & Mrs Wanderlust's Review: La Cheverie Resort + Resort looks clean, new and beautiful style + Nice rooms and simple but stylish interiors + Nice mid sized pool for kids and adults with a good view of the beach + Rooms upstairs are spacey and has nice balcony + Good and delicious food but few selection - Restaurant takes a bit longer to cook order (should order an hour in advance) - Beach is unswimmable, but hey, it's Anilao, what do you expect - Expensive room rates and expensive food rates ~ *Rating: Price: $$$$ 14,000++PHP for 4 pax Service: 5 star - Service & staff were very helpful and nice Facilities & Amenities: 4.5 star - Nice rooms, clean pool, and nice beachfront, but unswimmable. Restaurant (foods): 4.6 star - Delicious food, just takes a little bit longer (so order early) Bar: 4.9 - Has good wine selection in a cellar just at the back of the restaurant ________________________________ Overall: 4.7
1. Snorkeling & Diving Having diverse marine life and rich waters, Anilao is one of the internationally acclaimed best diving spots in Asia. SCUBA diving is probably the best thing to do to appreciate its beautiful underwater scene. 2. Trekking Mt. Galugod-Baboy is just a 10 minute drive away, and probably a 30 minute easy ascending walk to reach its top. And from the top, you would definitely be awed by the green scenery and cool breze that would make you want to just chill out, sit on the grass, and just enjoy the view. 3. Relax For those who just want relaxation and not to move much, you can just lie down facing the beach, maybe with a book, an ice cold drink of your choice and get your mind out of your stressors. 4. Island Hopping Sombrero Island is just around 20 minute boat ride away, you can surely enjoy its beach on a beautiful sunny day.
